to improve the game. thoughts and suggestions

1) display opponent rank in ranked game and opponent lvl (also maybe current win/loss ratio) in trials

2) visible and selectable in the game avatar, flag, coat of arms, a symbol, an icon next to name (like it was in mmdoc)

3) add display statistics of all the cards in the collection (your cards\total\each aspect), total number of matches(win\loss) in each mode

4) add more interesting challenging achievements and rewards for the performance of them (depending on the complexity)
for ex: collect one copy of each card from valiant dawn set \ unique card back or alternate art hero;
reach 10 wins in a Sw trial three times or win a Sw trial 10-0 \ certain amount of tickets and unique avatar (see 2.);
collect four copy of each epic card from VD(except heroes card) \ unlock additional rare or epic or academy quest(permanently);

    card balance:

do not need cards with the ability 'win the game'

buff or redesign weak cards :
militia, primordial treant, vegetation blockade, electric aurite, mantle of winds, spirits walker,shaman firedancer, ruination, moon priestess, power seeker, word of power,overwhelming forces, midnight cravings, undead hydra.

Blood mutant/ maybe to do so he could not put WE on 1 hp creature and put ME onself if only a creature with his WE dies. OR same effect as now, but 2attk\2hp body(1\2; 2\1?)

Helm/ maybe double WE at the start of its controllers turn and 5 mana cost

cataclysm/ destroy all creatures with 3(4..5?) or less hp

sanctum of the void/ add pay 2 life

valorsworn and lifeforce incarnate need sometning. powerlast need nerf

burning rage/ whenever you play a rage spell at first time on turn,draw a card (one draw per turn)

guardian of the faithful/ "...if 3 or more creatures are attacking.." cap max creatures she can destroy (maybe if 3,4 or 5 creatures are attacking)

library guards/ too powerfull and 4x autoinclude in all decks with wisdom aspect/ maybe nerf spd or hp to 2 (or both)

Djinn of wishes/ currently its not worth the epic slot. Maybe make him legendary, add draw card when he leaves the field or if already there.remove zzz activated power,but still once per turn(he can block or attack after use power) and ability: "look at the top 4(5?) cards of your deck.."

elven santuary/"...gets +1atk/+1hp.."

red dragon/ maybe make so that he could use the ability at once per turn

infernal tribute/ maybe 4 mana cost. add that hero gain 1(2?) life for each sacrificed creature(or 1 additional mana per sacrificed creature next turn)

Dread knight/ add 1 speed. he is not zombie, slightly nerf body 5\5 (4\5, 5\4?)

Xiara/ same as djinn. maybe add 1(2?) spd and other enemy creatures have -1\-1 and when xiara enters the field, enemy hero discards a card(or enemy hero decay 4 cards)

why flameborn incarnate act.power inscription in abbreviated form "until EOT" ? ugly and creates unnecessary questions
why detonate only destroy an artifact, but the test of time destroy an artifact or a spell?

Another idea is having in-game public player profiles (accessible from the Fame table) where these statistics are displayed, along with completed achievements. There could even be an option to write a few lines about yourself in your profile.

This would be superb. I love the idea of unique card backs and alternate card art as rewards for completing certain challenging achievements.

1) make Elf Warrior level 2
-- to effectively nerf the rushes. the loss of that extra tempo and mana, I think, will help even things out against the elf rush.

2) nerf Bloodsucking Mutant
-- this card seems OK on a stand-alone basis, but if he comes out in pairs or triplets, it is like pulling a royal flush. (hardly deserved.)

3) Tomb of the Dead should be a curse; -1 HP per zombie summoned would be a really neat mechanic, (along the lines of Burning Rage, except more strategically applicable in Blacks play.)


...There are other cards and synergies that I hate, (Purple seems to be able to play from opponents hand a little too often,) but I think those 3 would really tidy things up nicely.

I'd personally have to disagree on this part because tombs would be completely unplayable(they have been buffing it actually because they already nerfed it HARD before because it used to cost less mana and be NON-LEGENDARY).

This would defeat the whole point of the card which is that its a hard board reset not a soft board reset like firestorm from adv. zach

This would also defeat the whole point of burning rage which is your on a timer to burn your opponent down with spells hence why it does damage to YOU not your opponent.

All level 4 cards are expose to be game enders so doing this change would like i said above defeat its whole point(if you let a mono rage deck get red dragon out+ having 8+ mana you probably lost about 4 turns ago and are only now realizing it)

Infernal tribute is like the above which is it would defeat the point.

As for void and Xiara people have compained about them both(void is actually in its nerfed form because it USED TO HEAL THE USER while killing a creature of the opponent's) and the devs refuse to touch Xiara despite her complete disuse in all formats.

People have been begging for a Xiara buff to her sense her introduction in closed beta and the devs have ignored the community on it and she pretty much is rotting unused in most people's collections or was broken down into shrines to make good epics(the community have given up on Xiara btw).

When you think about it hes wearing a full iron suit(which looks like its 3 times thicker then normal) while wielding a 2 handed great sword why wouldn't he be slow?

I am liking the game so far. I really hope the devs live up to their promises. I have played too many games where devs say one thing and then nothing happens, so I am always skeptical with threads like this bringing about actual change, but I will put in my 2 cents.

UI

-The UI could use some polishing up. I have an old computer, so the ascetics seem fine, but some aspects could be better.

-The end turn button is a big one. I think is should be moved.

- The "quick battle" should be renamed "play" or "battle" since that is what the button does and there is no non quick battle option besides trials, which again could be put under the "play/battle" button. This would show the player all playing options.

- Decks should be under collection and the ui could be improved such as making two columns side by side instead of one long line. Deck contents could be seen once you selected the deck. This way people with larger collections and many decks would have an easier time.

- Filter options in the deck selection.

- Crafting could be a separate tab instead of with the deck builder. Replacing "decks" in the main UI, for example.

- Deck builder mechanics need some work.

- With my suggestions the buttons on the main screen would be: battle, crafting, collection, marketplace, then maybe an event tab (for special types of seasonal/promotional battles etc.. and pve type button once more is implemented.


Chat:
Many have said the game needs one and I will add to it. The current tourney chat is terrible and I did not even know it existed until I saw it somewhere on this forum. Many people do not use forums at all so a chat system is needed for any sense of community to grow.

Trading:
An auction house style trading system I think would be good for this game. Yes you can craft cards, but being able to trade card for card, or card for gold or even crystals, packs etc.. would be nice. This could help newer players too with trading for c/unc instead of waiting to craft etc. Allowing multiple trades with the same card with whatever one gets used is the best system I have seen. Example:
Let's say I wanted to trade a tomb of the damned. I would be able to search and see what they are going for, what some have traded for already (important distinction to help against sharks) and can decide what I want to trade it for. I only have 1 for trade, but I could make multiple trades with it. One could be for a card I want, one for some gold, and a crystal offer. So that would be 3 trades with the same card. When one of those trades went through it would automatically take down the other trades if I do not have cards (that I marked as tradeable)to fulfill them. This system already exists in a card game called legends of norrath (an old everquest card game).

Trials:
I have brought this up in other threads so I will not get into it here again. I think there should be some adjustments to the trials mode.

Balance:
I think there needs to be some balance adjustments in the game. I am not going to bother with what cards I feel should be changed into what etc..., but I hope the devs make a balance patch soon. Maybe then we can see some different types of decks. From what I can see of the meta it looks stale. This is partly because of the lack of a card pool, but the other part is balance.

Rewards/marketplace:
-The rewards for the ftp aspect of this game are great. Maybe a little too great, but are the main reason I invested in the game and remain playing. I think the marketplace is ok, but could be improved. The subscriptions, for example I think could be redone. I actually think the gold prices should go up for pack items, but offer most all pack and box items (excluding premium packs) with gold. There should be at least 1 gold option for card backs for each faction too.

-The rewards for playing ranked should be tweaked/increased, while the pve rewards could use a bit of a tone down. What are the benefits for ranked play other than ego right now?

Achievements:
As much as I hated these when they first arrived on the gaming scene, they have grown on me in some formats, card games being one of them. Achievements with rewards are a great progression system in games that lack any sort of story or rpg elements (like card games).

Game modes:
- More game modes are a must. This probably has been mentioned many times and some might be on the way, but on the way means nothing to me. The proof is in the actions of the devs. A real draft mode, 2v2, more tourney options, pauper, best of three for ranked with sideboards etc.. are all things I would like to see. I do not like the 1 and done of most all of the ranked/tourney options. I have always been a fan of Bo3.

AI:
Better pve AI.

That the problem when we speack about many changes .

Aggro players want nerf of control cards
Controls players want nerf of aggro.

Some players hate combo deck and want break otk/oth ....


The game need balance, but the changes must be do when cards break the meta and no only when the card is just a bit too powerfull.

in my opinion the best way to balance a meta is to make new cards and not to change cards.

I like the duelyst way to release new card evey month , and nerf a card only when it's very very too opoverfull.

Card balance/power is a very subjective term and is 99% a skewed opinion based on someones play style like you say Cion. The problem with the whole leave the cards as is and then release answers to said cards and play styles is it can limit design space sometimes and then there is the whole play with the OP stuff until it is not OP anymore mentality.

Balance is the hardest part of any card game and is nearly impossible to do since everyone's version of balance is different. I think leaving things as is though is the worst way to go. I am a big fan of small changes over time and testing with occasional reworks or even removing the card when something is too off. I am also a big fan of banning cards (at least is ranked) until answers can be had since this is a motivating tool for the devs.
